Loving Your Story

Loving Your Story

When you believe in the story you’re creating so much; knowing it could be something great and meaningful if only you could get your shit together and FINISH it! I’m almost scared of writing it, thinking I won’t be able to do it justice, but I have to write it because…it means something to me. The messages and the purpose- it HAS to be written and I HAVE to let other people see it, because it could be something that changes the world.

That’s not to say I have anything so profound as to end wars, but it could teach people! The way some people read fiction and pull all the meanings and messages away to learn- how high school and college English literature teachers ask students what they felt and how it impacted them- I could be that. I could write that book that makes people think. YOU could write that poetry, that story, that novel, those lyrics that change SOMEONE! If you feel anything for your work: longing and love, or excitement and freedom, anything and everything…write it. Finish it even if it kills you, even if you hate it by the end- remember how important it is or was to you and write it. Your neighbor might hate it, a coworker may think it’s trash, but someone out there will love it more than life itself. It could help people, change people. If you love it, so does someone else, and while you don’t owe it to them to complete your masterpiece, that someone will thank you from the bottom of their heart. And you’ll love yourself too.

Write your life away, kids. Write your heart out.
